Location: Nigeria – Remote
Engagement: Independent Consultancy
Company: Rosie's People Limited
Reporting to: Founder & CEO
Remuneration: Monthly consultancy fee + success-based commission

About the Opportunity

Rosie's People is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development & Client Relationships Manager based in Nigeria to help grow our client portfolio across Nigeria, Africa and international markets.

We are looking for someone who can open doors, close business and build strong, lasting client relationships.

This is not simply a lead-generation role. You will be expected to identify and develop commercially viable opportunities, build relationships with senior decision-makers, convert opportunities into paying business and maintain strong relationships with the clients you bring into the organisation.

Although you will be based in Nigeria, your commercial remit does not stop there. We welcome candidates with established relationships or proven business-development experience elsewhere in Africa, Europe or other international markets.

If you can identify and secure good business in another market, we want to hear about it.

About Rosie's People

Rosie's People is a multi-award-winning international executive consultancy providing leadership, HR/People, recruitment and business operations solutions to organisations across multiple sectors and continents.

Our clients range from ambitious growth businesses to established organisations, and we are proud of our ability to work across sectors, geographies and different stages of organisational growth.

Our services include executive and specialist recruitment, HR/People consultancy, leadership and organisational development, training and business operations support.

We are particularly interested in developing relationships with ambitious, professionally run organisations that value high-quality external expertise and have the appetite to grow and compete internationally.

We work across sectors. What matters to us is the quality, ambition, conduct/professionalism and commercial fit of the client.

Before applying, we encourage you to research Rosie's People, our services, the calibre of organisations we have supported and our TICK values. Understanding who we are and how we operate will be important to succeeding in this opportunity.

Application Process & Mandatory Questions

Please read the full job description before submitting your application.

As part of your application, please answer all mandatory questions below within your covering letter/notes or as part of your CV. You may include everything within one document if preferred.

We will not progress applications that do not answer all mandatory questions.

1. Where in Nigeria are you currently based, and do you have the legal right to work and provide services from Nigeria?

2. What monthly consultancy fee would you expect for this opportunity, before commission?

Please provide your answer in the local currency (NGN) and state either a specific figure or a clearly defined range.

Answers such as market rate, negotiable, open to discussion, competitive or similar responses will not be accepted. Answers provided only in another currency will also not be accepted.

Applications that do not provide an actual figure or range in NGN will be automatically disqualified.

3. What individual business development, sales or revenue targets have you personally been responsible for during the last three years?

Please tell us what the targets were and approximately what percentage of the target you achieved. If you regularly exceeded your targets, please tell us by approximately how much.

4. Tell us about one client or commercial relationship that you personally originated and subsequently developed into repeat business.

Please keep your answer concise.

5. Which sectors and senior decision-maker networks in Nigeria can you credibly access today?

Please briefly explain the types of professional relationships you have developed rather than simply listing industries.

6. Beyond Nigeria, in which countries have you personally and successfully secured new business?

Please identify the country or countries and briefly describe the type of business you secured and your personal role in winning it. If you have not yet secured business outside Nigeria, please state this clearly.

7. This opportunity is offered on a self-employed independent consultancy basis with a UK company rather than as employment through a Nigerian employing entity. Are you comfortable working on this basis?

Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will be responsible for:

• Identifying, developing and converting new commercial opportunities across Nigeria and other relevant African and international markets.
• Building relationships with founders, CEOs, senior executives, HR/People leaders and other key decision-makers.
• Generating new business across Rosie's People's range of consultancy services.
• Qualifying prospective clients and commercial opportunities.
• Ensuring prospective clients are appropriately aligned with Rosie's People's standards, ways of working and TICK values. We are comfortable declining or ending client relationships where that alignment does not exist.
• Negotiating and closing commercially viable business.
• Managing and developing client relationships.
• Maintaining appropriate communication with clients and the Rosie's People team.
• Supporting client retention, account development and cross-selling opportunities.
• Developing repeat business from existing relationships.
• Identifying opportunities with ambitious organisations seeking regional or international growth.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date pipeline and company records.
• Attending agreed Business Development meetings and providing appropriate updates.
• Representing Rosie's People professionally and protecting the company's brand, reputation and commercial interests.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience in B2B business development, sales, client relationships or account management.

You should have:

• A strong track record of personally generating and closing business.
• Experience working against individual sales, revenue or business-development targets.
• Evidence of meeting and ideally exceeding commercial targets.
• Strong relationship-building and client-management capability.
• Confidence engaging founders, executives and other senior decision-makers.
• Strong commercial judgement, influencing and negotiation skills.
• An established professional network in Nigeria and/or other relevant markets.
• The ability to build and maintain relationships that generate repeat business.
• The confidence and drive to proactively pursue new commercial opportunities.
• The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your responsibilities.
• Strong communication, organisation and follow-through.
• Good administrative discipline and attention to detail.
• The ability to work effectively within an international, remote-first team.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Previous experience successfully developing business across multiple countries would be particularly valuable.

Experience within recruitment, executive search, professional services, consultancy, HR/People services, training, fintech, technology or another consultative B2B environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

We are particularly interested in commercially hungry people who know how to find, secure and close business, while understanding that the quality and long-term value of the client relationship matters.

What We Offer

Rosie's People is proudly a remote-first organisation.

You will have significant autonomy over how you organise your working time and commercial activity. We do not micromanage experienced professionals; we expect ownership, communication, professionalism and results.

This is a paid consultancy opportunity, combining an agreed monthly consultancy fee with success-based commission.

You will also have:

• Significant flexibility and autonomy over your working arrangements.
• The opportunity to generate business across multiple sectors and consultancy services.
• The freedom to develop opportunities across Nigeria, Africa and international markets.
• Direct interaction with our Founder & CEO and wider international team.
• The opportunity to grow alongside an established, multi-award-winning international executive consultancy.

Engagement Status

For clarity, this opportunity is offered as an independent consultancy engagement.

It is not being offered as permanent or salaried employment.

Successful consultants will provide services on a self-employed basis and will be expected to submit invoices for approved consultancy fees and any other amounts due in accordance with the agreed commercial terms.

The detailed terms of the engagement, commission arrangements and performance framework will be provided to successful candidates as part of the consultancy agreement.

If you have the network, commercial confidence and drive to build business, we would like to hear from you.

Rosie's People is a remote-first, inclusive and equal opportunities consultancy. If you require any reasonable adjustments during our recruitment process, please include a Reasonable Adjustment Request section within your cover letter.
