Key Responsibilities

1. Provide legal advice and opinions on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters
2. Handle SCUML registrations, reporting, and ongoing AML/CFT compliance requirements
3. Manage AGIS-related filings, documentation, and liaison with relevant government agencies
4. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents
5. Represent the organization in court proceedings, arbitrations, and negotiations where required
6. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
7. Liaise with regulators, external counsel, and government agencies
8. Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks
9. Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization

Requirements

1. Minimum of 7–12 years post-call experience
2. Must be called to the Nigerian Bar
3. Strong knowledge of Nigerian laws and legal procedures
4. Demonstrable experience with SCUML (Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering) compliance and registrations
5. Working knowledge of AGIS (Abuja Geographic Information Systems) and government-related documentation
6. Experience in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management
7. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
8. High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
9. Strong analytical and communication skills
10. Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters efficiently
